I packed with EVERYTHING minus some stuff I still need and a few books I'm going to have shipped. But now that I am thinking back over all the clothes I packed, I think I have WAY too much. My rolling duffel/backpack looks like a mountain when I put it on my back. And I have no idea if I went over the weight limit. I'm going to have to take it to the tobacco warehouse to weigh it (yes I live in the country!). But I'm going to put a list of what I packed on here and the few things I still need(with a *) and feel free to tell me if I went overboard. PLEASE.

Wow..this is a crazy long list. I'm definitely going to have to eliminate some clothes. Just my American-consumer side getting the best of me I guess. Looks like I'll be spending my day changing up packing. Oh! And having my interview with PC Guyana :) :)! Feel free to give suggestions on my list.

I think the only thing that I noticed was only ONE pants of cargo kapris. Those would like be my lifeline, wear everyday STAPLE item haha. I dont think you have too much though! And I heard on FB your interview went good, so YAY. Not long now!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I totally dont stalk your blog I swear, it shows up on my list lol.
Haha its cool. I like that I can almost expect to get a comment from you. I'll probably wear long skirts and stuff most of the time with like wife beaters. But I am DEFINITELY going to take some clothes out cause they said we have to take a 2 hour speed boat ride to our training site...and I'm super clumsy. I kinda keep thinking what about if I fall in the water trying to put all my luggage on the boat HAHAHA. I'm not normal.
ReplyDeleteHi Leighton. I am Sara and I am going to Guyana with the Peace Corps too in Februaury. Just thought I would introduce myself...I liked reading you packing list, as I have yet begun to pack, so this is helpful. I see you are bringing your laptop, I was wondering if I should bring mine?? I think I will.
ReplyDeleteHi Leighton. I found some slips that are cotton and like shorts, so they won't cause problems with the extreme heat. I can't remember what they are called, but I ordered them on amazon.com and typed in cotton slips. They're awesome for high humidity climates under skirts, which I plan on wearing quite a bit as well for both comfort and appearance. :) I don't know if that helps, and send me a message on facebook if you can't find them and are interested; I can look up what they are called.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Paul and I posted our pack list on our blog awhile back. Some things have been taken off, but it's the general idea if you want to check that out as well.
ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Andrea and I'm also going to Guyana in Febuary (my dad is obsessed with Google searches, which is how I found you)... My one comment on your packing list is that you are bringing too much stuff that you can buy in country, or won't need right away. I would suggest that you only bring enough deodorant and soap and the like for three months because that will really help reduce your weight. If you are set on a particular brand, I would have someone ship it to you every couple of months. Hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteI have a thought for you as well. If there are ways to condense a few things into one item you should go for it. IE. for our can opener/ knife/ tweezers we went out and got multitools (leatherman make the best). A good multitool is invaluable and has many unique functions.
