Well, this is a little weird. I've never put my thoughts out like this for the world to see. I really wanted to start this blog before my big journey. For those of you who don't know, I will be travelling to Guyana in February 2010 to be a Peace Corps volunteer. This is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to me and definitely the most exciting. I feel like the mixed me up with someone else. I'm never the girl that stuff this amazing happens to. I really feel like this is what I am meant to do. And ever since I made up my mind to apply, almost a year ago, everything just seemed to fall right into place.
I've known about my invite since September, but man being a student teacher really puts a damper on having time to get things together. I am hoping that two months will be enough to get everything done, because I pretty much have no time while I am teaching. I keep reading other peoples' blogs, and they have compiled packing lists and are buying stuff. I haven't picked out luggage yet. Whew! I am definitely freaking out that I will forget to do something crucial before I get to staging.
Oh well! After being in Kindergarten for the last five weeks, I am beginning to think that I work best under pressure. So hopefully that will be true with my predeparture schedule.
Until next time,
Leighton
